Training

It Did Happen - It Does Matter
From Conceptualization to Engagement: a Two-day Training Conference on Male Sexual Victimization

The next available workshops are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

February 23 & 24, 2012

The Canadian Mental Health Association, Ottawa Branch, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting good mental health, developing and implementing support systems and services and encouraging public action to strengthen community mental health services and related policies and legislation.

The Men’s Project is a non-profit men’s counselling agency that has been providing services to men and their families since 1997. It is the only Ontario organization that receives funding from the Ministry of the Attorney General to provide specialized treatment services for male survivors of sexual abuse. For further information, see: www.themensproject.ca

Why this Training Is Important

According to research, one in five males is sexually abused by age 18. Despite this, helping professionals have often tended to overlook sexual abuse in men and the social chaos that follows. By understanding the source of the trauma, we can learn to support and assist those who have experienced it. Join us in this process of exploration, understanding and intervention to break the silence and get to the heart of the problem.

Who Should Attend

Frontline workers, case managers, social workers, counsellors, health professionals – anyone who works with men in a professional capacity.

Monica Forst, M.Ed., C.C.C., I.C.A.D.C.
