 NAMI Family-to-Family Education Program
What is it?

A free, 12-week course for family and friends of individuals with serious mental illness, taught by trained NAMI family members. Across North America, this course has educated thousands of families on topics such as:

  • Current information about schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, addictive disorders, and more...
  • Up-to-date information about medications, side-effects, and strategies for medication adherence
  • Current reserach related to the biology of brain disorders
What else will I learn?

You and your family will learn valuable coping skills by understanding the subjective, lived experience of a person with mental illness. Special workshops for problem solving, listening, and communication techniques are also covered.

"I have so many questions..."
  • What do I do in a crisis?
  • How can I get a clear diagnosis for my relative?
  • How can my relative and I communicate better?
  • What local services in the community am I missing out on?
  • What are all these medications for?
  • How do I take care of myself in all this?
Where do I get more information?

If you are interested in enrolling in the NAMI Family-to-Family program, please contact the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) at (613) 737-7791.

Grieving a Death by Suicide

Survivors of Suicide Support Program
  • 10 - Week Program
  • October 20, 2003 - December 15, 2003 - January 10, 2004
  • Mondays, 7:00 to 9:30 p.m.
  • Fee: $50.00
If your life has in any way, or at any time, been touched by a suicidal
death, this program may be of help to you whether this death has occurred
recently, or many years ago.

This is an established program with trained and experienced Facilitators,
most of whom are themselves survivors of suicide.

Through the compassionate support of other group members and the
Facilitators, most participants have a more positive outlook, gain new
ideas, and come to an understanding of this very special grieving process.

We offer a buddy system until the date of the program.

We also offer a group for YOUNG PEOPLE.
